Jewell serves as the site of the South Hamilton School District, a quality K-12 program in two updated centers. The South Hamilton School District is comprised of 206 square miles and is located 4 miles west of Interstate 35 and 18 miles north of Ames (Iowa State University). The school has 60 teachers and 4 administrators situated in two building complexes, with district enrollment of over 800 students. The communities of Jewell, Ellsworth, Stanhope, and Randall are all served by the South Hamilton School District.
Students and Faculty have access to over eighty Macintosh and IBM computers, as well as the Internet where South Hamilton has it's own web site. Small class size increases teacher student interaction creating a healthy learning environment.
Iowa State University, the Webster City campus of Iowa Central Community College, Des Moines Area Community College (branches in Des Moines, Ankeny, and Boone), and Drake University (Des Moines) are all within easy commuting distance.
