The American Legion Post 550 was chartered in 1920 after World War I. The current membership includes 43 veterans. The Post puts up
the large and small flags at the cemetery, flags on main street for special days, military funerals, and they also do the color guard
and float each year during Jewell Jubilee.
The Legion building on Main Street was built in 1920, and it is currently in need
of repair. The Legion has applied for several grants to help repair the building, but has not yet received any grants.

- Our quilting sessions are every 3rd Wednesday and Thursday of each month except December starting at 1:00 PM.

19th at 3:00 PM is our "Awarness Day" to educate on the Human Trafficking problem.

The Lord's Cupboard is the South Hamilton area Emergency Food Pantry. They rely solely on donations from local citizens and
businesses. All donations are greatly appreciated. Items they can use anytime are: cereal, noodles, rice dinners, macaroni &
cheese, ravioli/spaghetti-o's, laundry soap, deodorant, peanut butter, canned fruit and vegetables, soups, boxed potatoes, pasta dinners,
canned meats, muffin/pancake mix, and toilet paper.
During the month of December the students and staff at South Hamilton collect
food items for the Lord's Cupboard.
