General Ordinances for Jewell
Jewell has several ordinances that deal with general property upkeep responsibilities. The goal is not to target any given resident, but to give guidelines for all to maintain a safe and attractive environment to live. Please check with City Hall for specific questions. Listed below are a few generalized code guidelines.
- Jewell has a Leash Law for all dogs. All dogs are to be on a leash when outside.
- Burning of leaves and garbage is forbidden with a few exceptions.
- There is a burn site on the east edge of Jewell. It is for Jewell residents only. There is no charge for this service. Non-Jewell residents are subject to a fine of $182.00 for improper disposal.
- Sidewalks are to be cleared within 24 hours of measurable snow.
- There are guidelines for keeping lawns in a respectable condition.

Lyon Township Cemetery
The Lyon Township Cemetery Organization handles all cemetery arrangements in Jewell. This service was started in 1904.
