Main Purpose: The Hamilton Soil and Water Conservation District is a legal subdivision of state government. Commissioners are responsible for carrying out state laws and programs.
Federal Programs Include:

History: The Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District was formed on May 10, 1946. The district charter was granted under a 1938 state conservation district law proposed to the nation's governors by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1937. G. N. Knickerbocker of Radcliff, D. H. Hunter of Webster City, and E. M. Seiser of Webster City were the first Commissioners appointed to the official board.
An important aspect of this district is the promotion of conservation practices as well as providing monetary help for farmers
and landowners who institute conservation practices on their land. It operates in conjunction with the Iowa
Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardshop (IDALS).
