New Businesses in Jewell

Alley Cat Laundry 2008
line

Alley Cat Laundry opened up November 2008 and is owned and operated by the husband-wife team of Karl and Shawn Curtis. The business is located in the rear of C & H Vintage Treasures, 600 Main Street.

Axis Lanes Bowling Alley 2007
line

Brothers Ray and Mark Burkhart returned to their Jewell roots by buying and then renovating the dilapidated old bowling alley that was once owned by their father. They can remember growing up at a time when the bowling alley was the hip place for kids to bowl, play pool, ping pong, or even a little basketball. Mark Burkhart put up the original building investment while Ray sold his home in Los Angeles and moved back to Jewell to head up the renovations and manage the business.

The 6-lane bowling alley will be opening up around Thanksgiving 2007 and will also feature a dance floor and a spot for bands to perform. Cosmic Bowling (the kids will know all about this) will be available as well, along with electronic scoring. It promises to be a fun time for people of all ages!

Grandma J's Cafe 2008
line

Kim Klein has opened a new cafe, Grandma J's, in what was formerly Grandma June's Place. We're glad to see Kim keep this wonderful little conversational setting alive and well.

Service Master 2008
line

The old laundromat, located on Carmichael street behind Hamilton Hospital Clinic, is now home to a new business, Service Master, operated by local resident Kevin Hand.

The Shed Fitness 2008
line

Julie Grove, owner of Grove's Hair Salon, has also opened up a new business for fitness fans, or perhaps those that count themselves among the fitness wannabe's.

The Shed Fitness (located behind the hair salon) opened its doors November 2008. One wonderful feature about this new facility is that it's open 24-hrs daily, which removes the excuse many of us have for not having time!
