Jewell's New Bowling Alley - Axis Lanes!
October 2007, John Carlson of the Des Moines Register wrote a wonderful article about the new bowling alley coming to town. He explains what led brothers Ray and Mark Burkhart to rennovate the dilapitated old bowling alley that was owned by their father. The 6-lane bowling alley will be opening up around Thanksgiving 2007 and will also feature a dance floor and a spot for bands to perform. Cosmic Bowling (the kids will know all about this) will be available as well, along with electronic scoring. It promises to be a fun time for people of all ages!

Jewell in the News!
In April 2007, Rox Laird, of the Des Moines Register, wrote an article about how "Jewell is blessed with a spirit of resourcefulness and commitment to building and preserving what is truly a gem of a community".
It's a very interesting article, and Mr. Laird did a wonderful job of capturing the enthusiasm of Jewell's residents as they've cooperated on several projects which have improved the downtown business district.
